What are Math Addition Fact Families? When you are trying to teach basic mathematics to children, you need to have a few tricks up your sleeves. One of the most creative methods for teaching addition and subtraction is the fact family. A fact family is a bunch of math facts which uses the same number. It helps students to perform connection between addition and subtraction. Moreover, they are easy to manipulate since they are created from the same numbers. In the fact family, four addition and subtraction sentences are used. For instance, if you have three numbers, 4 and 5; while their sum 9 is used as a whole.
