Fraction Review Worksheets
Tips for Performing operations With Fractions - Performing mathematical operations in normal whole and natural numbers can be easy, but things become more complicated when decimal numbers and especially fractions are involved. It is a wide observation that students find solving sums difficult that involve fractions and decimals. Two fractional numbers can be added or subtracted easily; however, multiplication and division can be a bit of a hassle with fractions. While adding or subtracting two fractional numbers, we need to keep in mind that fractions that have common denominators can be added or subtracted by just adding or subtracting the numerators. Whereas in the case of unlike denominators, first, we have to make them common by taking the L.C.M. In case of multiplication, numerator gets multiplied by numerator and denominator by denominator. The same is the case with the division. The numerator gets divided by the numerator and the denominator by the denominator. This is how operations are performed with fractions.

Basic Lesson
Demonstrates how to add and subtract fractions. Includes practice problems. When the denominators (bottom numbers) are different, it is necessary to find a common denominator. Multiply both the numerator and denominator of each fraction by the denominator of the other fraction. The results will have a common denominator.

The Grades
A class had less than 30 students; 1/3 of the class got B's, 1/4 got a B-, 1/6 a C, and 1/8 got an F. The rest got A's. How many students got an "A"? The only common denominator less than 30 is 24. The students with a B = 8, B- = 6, C=4, F=3. 3 received an A.
