You need to keep in mind all the rules of rounding off. When rounding off you look at the number beside the last required digit and if the number is greater than five, you round your last digit and if it is less than five you do keep the number as it is. For rounding off to nearest 1000, you need to use 500 as the boundary. If the number is next to the thousand’s place is greater than 500, you round off your digit and if its less than 500, you keep it as it is.
