Math. The very thought of the word would make me cringe up inside. Some parts I could do well, some, well, not so good. But today I realize the importance of math just by using it so often in my life.
Division is a procedure that breaks down a problem into easier steps. Simple isn't it. You would wonder why division is important at all. There are a few reasons why and actually many places where we use division in our lives.
A Band or Rock group
Division is something that you use daily. If you are in a Rock group of any kind or a band for instance. You might be the lead singer, the guitarist or even the drummer. Each one of you has their own place, and when you play a song, that song is divided into different parts where each one gets a piece to do. In other words you divide up the music or song.
Have you ever made a collage as a group, or painted a wall for a community project. Whenever you do something like that you are given a certain piece to do. This is division. When divided the workload becomes easy and light and when working together side by side, you are learning valuable people skills.
As a choreographer you need to be able to divide the piece you want to perform, into smaller pieces so that everyone will be able to do and give their best, whether you dance or choreograph an orchestra. In the end of the day they need to flow together in harmony and you will use division to accomplish that.
This means using natural products and energy to benefit the environment. We all have to give a little in order to protect our planet. Whether you use only natural products or work against pollution. You are part of a bigger division point. When each person does their part the earth can be protected for future generations. That means that the part you do is only a division of the bigger picture.
We are raising up the leaders of tomorrow. These leaders need to be able to divide their task into smaller parts, so that everything they need to accomplish will be done. This is called delegation.
To have a fair and good character is very important. When you walk over people and hurt them, you are not being fair. To be fair you need the ability to divide. Say for instance there are five children and a cake. That cake needs to be divided fairly, and this is something we need to apply to every situation in our lives.
Many different law issues are arising right now about land division and who is the people group that lived their first. This requires not just honesty, but also division. A huge task to decide to whom you will appoint that piece of land. To be able to do that you need to divide.
What about a last will and testament. A very important topic in every home. You should have a testament in which you divide up all your assets in equal or fair parts.
Within family context
Every family has to budget. Make important decisions like housing, going to college, funding new things or just living expenses. On a monthly and even daily basis you will need to be able to use division skills in your life.
Division is a basic skill you use daily!
