Number Line Subtraction Worksheets

How to Display Subtraction on a Number Line - Here, we are going to use a number line for subtracting one number from another. Now, let us try to solve a problem using the number line. Here, we are trying to subtract 3 from 4. How do we do it using a number line? The first digit is 4 so, and we will mark 4 on the number line. What should we do subtract 4 - 3? We will move backward for subtraction. The second number is 3 so, let us move left towards 3 and count like 1,2,3. Then, you will stop at number 1. That is 4 - 3 = 1. Also, you can check your answer by verifying the problem via a normal subtraction method. You will draw 4 sticks then, cut only 3 sticks as per the requirement. Then, only one stick will remain. In this way, you will check your answer that must be similar to the number line method. In case the verification answer would become wrong, it means you are making a mistake somewhere while solving the question. Either you are not using the number line correctly, or you are wrongly subtracting the numbers. Thus, solve it again!

"It's well we should feel as life's a reckoning we can't make twice over; there's no real making amends in this world, any more nor you can mend a wrong subtraction by doing your addition right."
